Malloves: The Beginning
It all started with Max Levin and Joseph Levine. Two Brothers decided to open a fine gifts store in 1928. When both men passed, Max's son, then just 17, took over the family business. Buzzy Levin ran Malloves Jewelers for years and saw it through times of great success as well as great struggle, including a fire in 1972 which completely destroyed the store. After the disaster, Malloves moved to a temporary location for two years before permanently relocating to it's current location at 404 Main Street in Middletown. Buzzy is now retired and lives in Florida but is a constant fixture at Malloves, returning to Connecticut regularly to help out during the summer and holiday seasons. In 1992 Buzzy carried on the family tradition and turned Malloves over to his son, Marc Levin.
Malloves: Today
Malloves is a family owned business and has been since it's start in 1928. We are celebrating 81 years as Middletown's premier jeweler. We are well known for our excellent customer service. You won't find a friendlier or more knowledgeable staff anywhere else. Our first priority is customer service. We will go that extra mile to ensure that you have a pleasurable experience and that you leave with a smile on your face, feeling completely comfortable and at ease with your purchase.
Second only to our outstanding customer service, we at Malloves pride ourselves on our wide selection of merchandise. We offer many well known designers at our store. If for some reason an item you desire is not in stock, we will be happy to order it in for you! If we still can't find your perfect piece, Tom, our on site goldsmith, will work with you to create your dream piece of jewelry! That's right! If you can dream it, we can create it and you will leave with a custom piece of jewelery that you designed!
Along with custom designs, Malloves offers everything you could never need in a fine jeweler. Malloves is proud to have Carey, our GIA Certified Gemologist available for appraisals. We also offer free jewelry cleaning and jewelry inspection! We have a full repair department for any in-house repairs. We also offer watch batteries, watch repairs and pearl restringing.
If you're looking to purchase a diamond, our knowledgeable staff is happy to assist you. We will take the time to clearly explain the important details of buying a diamond. We have a large selection of diamonds in various cuts and sizes, but if your perfect stone is not in our store, we will search high and low to bring it in for you. At Malloves you will find a no pressure atmosphere where you can receive an education about what to look for in a diamond without feeling intimidated into purchasing something you don't want. When you do choose your diamond, we will provide you with a dozen roses for the special event and a gift card to our store for use toward your wedding bands!
Aside from our remarkable jewelry selection and services, Malloves also has a wide selection of giftware. Need to pick up something for a wedding, baby shower or first communion? We are your solution! Malloves carries Waterford Crystal, a wide selection of baby gifts and baby jewelry and a plethora of religious jewelery.
